Jaime's Barbecue Sauce

Ingredients

  • 2 cups ketchup
  • 1/4 tablespoons molasses
  • 3/4 cup cider vinegar
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 tablespoon dry mustard
  • 1 teaspoons salt
  • 1/2 teaspoons black pepper
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 stick butter
  • 1 lemmon

Preparation

  1. Sauté the chopped onion with oil in a saucepot until soft.
  2. Add garlic after onion is done and cook for 1–2 minutes.
  3. Stir in ketchup, molasses, cider vinegar, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, cayenne, dry mustard, salt, and pepper.
  4. Simmer gently for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  5. Stir in butter and lemmon.
  6. Remove from heat and puree the sauce for a smooth consistency.

Serving & Storage

  • Let the sauce cool and store in a sealed container.
  • Best for 10-14 days of in the fridge.

Tip: Adjust cayenne pepper for more or less heat according to your taste.
