Jaime's Barbecue Sauce
Ingredients
- 2 cups ketchup
- 1/4 tablespoons molasses
- 3/4 cup cider vinegar
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 1 tablespoon dry mustard
- 1 teaspoons salt
- 1/2 teaspoons black pepper
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 stick butter
- 1 lemmon
Preparation
- Sauté the chopped onion with oil in a saucepot until soft.
- Add garlic after onion is done and cook for 1–2 minutes.
- Stir in ketchup, molasses, cider vinegar, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, cayenne, dry mustard, salt, and pepper.
- Simmer gently for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Stir in butter and lemmon.
- Remove from heat and puree the sauce for a smooth consistency.
Serving & Storage
- Let the sauce cool and store in a sealed container.
- Best for 10-14 days of in the fridge.
Tip: Adjust cayenne pepper for more or less heat according to your taste.
