Pork Chops in Gravy
Ingredients
- 4 pork chops
- Flour (for coating and thickening)
- Salt & pepper, to taste
- Oil (for frying)
- Water (to make gravy)
- Optional: Milk (to thin gravy if needed)
Preparation
- Season pork chops with salt and pepper.
- Lightly coat both sides with flour.
Cooking
- Heat oil in a skillet (electric skillet works best).
- Fry pork chops on both sides until browned, but not fully cooked.
- Remove chops from the skillet and set aside.
- Make the gravy:
- Pour the remaining flour in the skillet into the oil and brown slightly.
- Slowly add water, stirring to avoid lumps, until the gravy thickens.
- Return pork chops to the skillet, making sure each is covered with gravy.
- Simmer on low heat for 30–60 minutes until chops are fully cooked and tender.
- If the gravy is too thick, stir in a little milk until it reaches the desired consistency.
Serving
- Serve hot straight from the skillet with mashed potatoes, rice, or bread to soak up the gravy.
Tip: Electric skillets work best for consistent heat and easy simmering.
